Free Gin Rummy Java Applet


   Gin Rummy is a Java applet, therefore you need a Java 1.1 enabled browser in order to play it, for example Netscape 4.06+ or Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01+ or AOL 5.0. This applet lets you play Simple, Standard or Oklahoma variations of Gin Rummy against the computer opponent. The applet files have size of about 50 kb. Estimated download time: T1 = 1 sec, ISDN = 8 sec, 28.8 = 20 sec. If you play this game first time, while applet is loading you can read the online guide to learn how to do the various game actions using your mouse. It explains how to start the game, select and move cards, play against the robot opponent and other.
   We will assume that you know the rules of Gin Rummy. If not, you can read Gin Rummy rules.
   Please note: this free applet is for fun only. If you prefer to play comfortable: offline against the computer opponent, with your relatives or colleagues via local home or company network, online against your Internet friends - just download and enjoy Net Gin Rummy.

How to ...

  • Start the game
    Please enter your name in the text field and push the Start button. Then choose Gin Rummy variation and score limit and push the Go button. If you want to play only with the computer opponent select "Don't disturb" item in the choice menu in the title.
  • Sort your cards
    All cards dealing to your hand are unsorted. You should use the mouse to select the card you want to change position by single clicking with the mouse button. Then you choose new position of this card and click the mouse button. If you change your mind you can click the mouse button over primary choosing card.
    To sort your cards you can use "Sort by Rank" and "Sort by Suit" buttons also. To restore your original sort order use the Restore button.
  • Pass
    To pass push the Pass button on the field. This option is only enabled at the start of a hand, when neither player has selected the first upcard.
  • Take a card
    When it's your turn, you can take a card by single clicking with the mouse button on the stock or discard pile. The selected card immediately jumps (face up) to the right side of your hand.
  • Discard
    When it's your turn to discard a card, you can use the mouse to select the card you want to discard by single clicking with the mouse button. Then you move mouse cursor to the discard pile and click the mouse button. If you change your mind you can click the mouse button over primary choosing card.
  • Knock
    When it's your turn to discard a card and you want to knock use the mouse to select the card you want to knock by single clicking with the mouse button. Then you move mouse cursor to the knock rectangle at the left of the stock and click the mouse button. If you change your mind you can click the mouse button over primary choosing card.
  • Confirm the results of hands
    To confirm the results of hands after play is over please push the Ok button.
